Pfälzerwoog

Pfälzerwoog is a small lake and designated nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the Landkreis Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate, southwestern Germany. It lies in the Wasgau, the southern extension of the Palatinate Forest that reaches toward the French border. The protected area covers roughly eleven hectares and extends beyond the lake itself to include surrounding shallow-water and transitional bog habitats. The reserve was placed under nature protection in 1979, with the explicit goal of preserving its flat-bog and transitional-bog character along with the open water and shoreline zones that shelter rare plant communities and animal species. Today it functions less as a destination in its own right and more as a quiet ecological refugium embedded in a larger wooded landscape, accessible through a network of themed hiking routes. Its setting, near the border with France and within walking distance of the small Palatinate communities of Fischbach bei Dahn and Ludwigswinkel, gives the protected area a markedly cross-border, forest-edge atmosphere typical of the Wasgau region.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
