Rezerwat przyrody Dęby w Meszczach

Rezerwat przyrody Dęby w Meszczach is a small forest nature reserve in central Poland, located in the southwestern part of Gmina Wolbórz in Piotrków County, Łódź Voivodeship. The reserve covers about 39 hectares of mixed woodland on the Równina Piotrkowska mesoregion and lies west of the village of Proszenie. Established on 11 May 1989, the reserve was created to protect a naturally regenerated stand of old pedunculate oaks. More than one hundred oaks between 150 and 260 years old dominate the canopy, complemented by pines, birches, hornbeams, firs, aspens, and spruces, along with scattered wild apple, wild pear, and rowan. The reserve is also noted for a number of protected plant species typical of central Polish deciduous and mixed forests. The reserve carries the name of a forester who, during the German occupation of World War II, risked his life to protect the oak stand from being cut down. Today it stands as a compact, ecologically valuable fragment of lowland Polish forest, important for its old-growth oak character and its mix of protected flora.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
