Boginderra Hills Nature Reserve

Boginderra Hills Nature Reserve is a protected nature reserve in the Riverina region of New South Wales, eastern Australia. It lies to the north of the town of Temora and centres on a forested ridge of granite hills that forms part of the broader Nurraburra Hills complex. The reserve protects a substantial tract of native woodland on terrain too rocky and steep for agriculture. Its vegetation is dominated by eucalypts, cypress pines and acacias, with habitats shifting according to soil depth and aspect. The surrounding plains of the Riverina have historically been widely cleared, which gives the hill reserve an outsized conservation role as a refuge for woodland flora and fauna. The reserve is managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service as a strict nature reserve, with a deliberate policy of limiting visitor facilities to keep human impact on the landscape to a minimum. Despite its modest size, it provides habitat for a wide range of mammals, reptiles and birds, including several threatened woodland species.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
