Bovet

Bovet is a small protected natural area on the southern coast of eastern Læsø, a Danish island in the Kattegat. The site covers roughly 65 hectares along the western shore of Bovet Bugt (Bovet Bay) and protects about 2.5 km of open, undeveloped coastline. Its character is shaped by a narrow strip of heathland and beach meadow set between the coastal road and the sea, opening up to an unusually wide panoramic view. The protection, established in 1964, was driven primarily by the desire to preserve this sweeping coastal panorama. Large ice-age boulders scattered through the shallow bay reinforce the sense of an open, primal seascape, and the distant headland of Bløden Hale marks the easternmost spur of Læsø in the distance. Ecologically the area forms part of Natura 2000 site no. 9, dedicated to the strandenge (coastal meadows) of Læsø and the adjacent marine waters, and it is also designated as both a bird protection area and a Ramsar wetland site. Together with the adjoining Bovet-Knotten wildlife reserve, it represents one of the most important coastal bird habitats on the island.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
