Dębniak Nature Reserve

Dębniak Nature Reserve is a small forest nature reserve located in the eastern part of Korczew, in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship of eastern Poland. It sits on a scenic escarpment above the Bug River valley, within the broader Nadbużański Park Krajobrazowy, and lies in the Sarnaki Forest District under the designation of forest compartment 137 of the Dębniak subarea. The reserve was established in 1978 to protect a natural fragment of old-growth oak and small-leaved linden woodland, complete with monumental veteran trees and a floristically rich herb layer. Although only about 20 hectares in extent, the site carries the character of a former manor park and continues to function as both a conservation area and a quiet educational destination, with a nature trail leading to a small retention reservoir. Dębniak is a representative example of the multi-species deciduous forests, known in Polish ecology as grąd, that once dominated this stretch of the Bug valley margins. The reserve preserves not only the canopy trees but also a diverse understory of shrubs, spring flowers, lilies, and orchids that have survived because the woodland was never converted into uniform production forest.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
