Dolina Rurzycy Nature Reserve

Dolina Rurzycy Nature Reserve is a landscape-type nature reserve in northwestern Poland, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Wałcz County, within the rural commune of Wałcz. It lies along the Rurzyca River, a tributary of the Gwda, roughly twelve kilometers northeast of the town of Wałcz, and stretches across the regional boundary toward Greater Poland Voivodeship. The reserve protects one of the most valuable fragments of the Wałcz Forests, centered on a deeply incised river valley with a meandering stream, steep forested slopes, and a chain of clean glacial lakes. Its core ecological value lies in a complex of exceptionally well-preserved calcareous springs and lowland peatlands, fed by alkaline groundwater and supporting rare plant communities. Designated in 2005 under a voivodeship regulation, the reserve falls within a broader protected landscape area and contributes to both Polish and European Natura 2000 networks. It combines hydrological, ecological, and landscape conservation, while also serving as a destination for low-impact recreation along the Rurzyca River kayak trail.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
