Rezerwat Przyrody Dolina Żabnika

Rezerwat Przyrody Dolina Żabnika is a small water-focused nature reserve located in the eastern part of Jaworzno, in the Ciężkowice district, within the Silesian Voivodeship of southern Poland. It protects the entire valley of the Żabnik stream, a tributary of the Kozi Bród, and is centered on rare aquatic, low-moor, and transitional bog habitats framed by pine and mixed forest stands. The reserve is notable for the unusual concentration of protected and threatened species packed into a relatively small area. Botanical surveys have documented hundreds of vascular plant species along with a rich bryophyte flora, while the stream itself supports a distinctive freshwater fauna that includes protected fish and insect larvae. Because of this ecological density, the site is regarded as a uniquely valuable natural area at the regional scale of Silesia. Established formally in 1996 after years of incremental protection that began in 1991, Dolina Żabnika is managed under active conservation measures. It functions as both a scientific reference site and a local educational resource, preserving a landscape where wet habitats, peat-forming vegetation, and forest ecosystems meet within a single small drainage basin.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
