Dolina Zgniłej Strugi Nature Reserve

Dolina Zgniłej Strugi is a peatland nature reserve located in north-western Poland, within the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It lies on the Wysoczyzna Polanowska upland across the gminas of Polanów and Bobolice in the Koszalin county, covering a multi-kilometre stretch of the Zgniła Struga river, a right-bank tributary of the Radew, together with the surrounding green wetlands. The reserve was established on 24 December 2024 under the initiative known as 100 rezerwatów na 100-lecie Lasów Państwowych, creating a new layer of protection over habitats that were already recognised within the Natura 2000 site Dolina Radwi, Chocieli i Chotli. Its purpose is to preserve a mosaic of forest, peatland and spring-mire ecosystems, including one of the largest concentrations of blunt-flowered rush (Juncus subnodulosus) in Western Pomerania. As a phytocoenotic reserve focused on non-forest communities, it protects transitional and alkaline mires, bog birch and bog pine woodlands, riparian floodplain forests, and a naturally meandering lowland river. The site is treated as an important refuge for relict peatland vegetation and a key reference area for alkaline mire conservation in the region.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
