Frauenteich Moritzburg Nature Reserve

Frauenteich Moritzburg is a small nature reserve located north of Dresden in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, within the Meißen district. It sits in the historic Moritzburg pond landscape, partly in the municipality of Moritzburg and partly in the neighboring town of Radeburg, and protects the substantial Frauenteich pond along with the much smaller Schösserteich and surrounding forests, meadows, and fields. The reserve is administered under IUCN Category IV as a habitat and species management area and has been protected since 1954. Its combination of open water, reed belts, sedge meadows, wet woodland, and dry forested hilltops creates a diverse mosaic of habitats in a relatively compact area. Together with the surrounding landscape protection zones, it forms a key part of Saxony's well-known Moritzburg pond country. The reserve is recognized as an Important Bird Area and is included in the European Union's Natura 2000 network as a designated European Bird Protection Area. With more than 190 recorded bird species, numerous rare plants, mosaic fungi, and a regionally distinctive geology shaped by Pleistocene glaciation, the area plays an important role in conserving the ecological character of the northern Saxon pond landscape.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
