Łódź's Hills Landscape Park

The Łódź's Hills Landscape Park is a protected landscape park (park krajobrazowy) located in the Łódź Voivodeship of central Poland, just northeast of the city of Łódź. It spans the northernmost, most strongly exposed edge of the Łódź Hills mesoregion, a strip of upland terrain that rises above the flat Warsaw-Berlin Pradolina to the north. The park was established on 31 December 1996 following an initiative that emerged in the early 1980s, and it covers roughly 11,580 hectares of forests, farmland, river valleys, and small water bodies. Although forest cover is relatively modest (around 28 percent), the area includes the largest beech forest in central Poland and the Łagiewnicki Forest, one of the largest urban woodlands in Europe. Beyond its ecological value, the park protects a distinctive highland landscape with panoramic viewpoints, glacial erratic boulders, and a network of cultural sites including a medieval gord at Stare Skoszewy and several manor and palace estates. Its proximity to the Łódź agglomeration makes it both a significant nature reserve and a readily accessible recreational area.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
