About Młodno Nature Reserve

Młodno Nature Reserve

Młodno Nature Reserve is a peatland nature reserve located in western Poland, within Lubusz Voivodeship, Słubice County, and the administrative area of Gmina Cybinka. The reserve protects a shallow post-lake basin set within a broader complex of pine forests, with the central waterlogged area representing the remnant of a former lake. Its ecological character is shaped by reed and bulrush communities, sedge marsh, willow and birch scrub, and young alder stands growing on a thick layer of organic deposits. The reserve overlaps with the Natura 2000 site Torfowisko Młodno (PLH080005), placing Młodno within the European Union network of protected habitats and reinforcing its value as a habitat-area of community interest. It is managed under active protection and is administered by the Cybinka Forest District on behalf of the Polish State Treasury, with protection established through a ministerial order from 1988. Ecologically, the site is recognized for its lowland peatland habitat, rich flora of vascular plants and bryophytes, and an avifauna that includes characteristic peatland, wetland, and forest-edge bird species. It functions as a small but ecologically coherent refuge of lowland mire habitat in the Torzym Plain landscape, contributing to the regional network of protected wetland sites in western Poland.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
