Přírodní park Chlum

Přírodní park Chlum is a protected landscape area in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, situated in the Mladá Boleslav district just east of the town of Mladá Boleslav. It follows the crest and slopes of the Chloumecký hřbet, an east–west oriented asymmetric horst ridge built from Cretaceous sediments and overlain by relict Pliocene weathering surfaces and loess deposits on its gentler southern flank. The park was formally designated by the municipality of Mladá Boleslav in 2000 and forms a continuous protected corridor with the neighboring přírodní park Čížovky. The defining identity of the park is its combination of a striking geological backbone and dense woodland. Most of the area is forested, with oak–hornbeam communities, acidophilic oak stands, and small patches of herb-rich beech forest dominating the slopes. Beneath the broad ridge crest, a mosaic of sandstone outcrops, loess fans, and a small reservoir known as Jezírko pod Chlumem supports a varied woodland flora and a typical central European forest fauna. Přírodní park Chlum is significant as a regional protective area rather than a strictly national park. It preserves an ecologically and geologically distinctive ridge landscape in the heavily used Bohemian lowlands, providing habitat continuity with adjacent protected areas and safeguarding rare plant species, forest communities, and the structural character of the Chloumecký hřbet itself.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
