Queanbeyan Nature Reserve

The Queanbeyan Nature Reserve is a small, formally protected natural area in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, in southeastern Australia. Covering just 67 hectares, it lies only a few kilometres west of the City of Queanbeyan and forms part of a network of conservation sites in the Canberra and Capital Region landscape. The reserve's defining value lies in its surviving fragments of Natural Temperate Grassland and White Box Yellow Box Blakely's Red Gum Woodland, often called Box-Gum Woodland. Both communities are recognized as nationally threatened, making the reserve an important refuge for the ecological character that once stretched across much of the Southern Tablelands. The reserve also supports populations of threatened species such as the Button wrinklewort and the Golden Sun Moth. Managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Queanbeyan Nature Reserve functions as a compact but ecologically significant stronghold for some of the most depleted habitat types in southeastern Australia.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
