Rašeliniště Borková

Rašeliniště Borková is a small nature reserve in the Šumava region of southern Bohemia, in the Czech Republic. It lies in the Český Krumlov district, along the right bank of the Lipno reservoir where the Rothovský potok stream enters the water body, southwest of the settlement of Dolní Vltavice. Administered within the Šumava Protected Landscape Area, it protects the last surviving fragment of the extensive valley peatlands that were flooded when the Lipno dam was built. The reserve is significant for its combination of relict peat bog vegetation, an important waterbird breeding area, and a rare assemblage of invertebrate species tied to mire habitats. It stands out as one of the few remaining references to the broader wetland landscape that once characterized the Vltavická brázda valley before the reservoir's construction changed the region's hydrology. Ecologically, Borková is notable for blending transformed lakeshore vegetation with surviving bog communities, linking aquatic, wetland, and upland forest habitats in a compact protected area of less than 50 hectares.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
