Majówka Nature Reserve

Majówka is a small forest nature reserve located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship (Wielkopolskie), in the rural gmina of Sieroszewice in Ostrowski County, roughly 15 kilometers southeast of Ostrów Wielkopolski. Established in 1958, it protects just over eight hectares of mixed deciduous-coniferous woodland in the Kotlina Grabowska lowland region, within the broader landscape of the Prosna River valley. The reserve is notable for its multilayered, uneven-aged stand of fresh mixed forest (bór mieszany świeży) that includes silver fir and Norway spruce near the northern edge of their natural range in Poland. Average tree age is around 120 years, giving the reserve an old-forest character despite its modest size. It sits entirely within the Protected Landscape Area of the Prosna River Valley, adding an extra layer of regional landscape protection. Because of its compact area, buffered by a narrow protective buffer zone, and its active conservation management, Majówka serves as a focused refuge for woodland species that would otherwise be marginal in the surrounding agricultural landscape, rather than as a large wilderness destination.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
