Sierra La Culata National Park is a protected area in the Venezuelan Andes, spanning the mountainous terrain of Mérida and Trujillo states in western Venezuela. Established on December 7, 1989, the park covers approximately 2,004 square kilometers of high-altitude terrain in the northeastern branch of the Venezuelan Andes. The landscape is characterized by dramatic mountain peaks, deep valleys, paramo ecosystems, and glacial lagoons, creating one of the most ecologically significant highland environments in northern South America. The park protects a unique transition zone where cloud forests give way to the distinctive páramo vegetation zone, the highest tropical ecosystem in the world.
