Südliches Hagener Königsmoor

Südliches Hagener Königsmoor is a small nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the community of Hagen im Bremischen, in the Cuxhaven district of Lower Saxony, Germany. Covering roughly 85 hectares near the North Sea coast, it preserves a fragment of the larger, historically drained Hagener Königsmoor landscape. The protected area is characterised by a mosaic of bog woodland, peat cutting remnants, drainage channels, and small open water bodies. While most of the surrounding moor has been drained and converted, the core of the reserve still contains near-intact raised bog vegetation, making it an ecologically valuable refuge within an otherwise heavily modified agricultural landscape. Although modest in size and not widely known internationally, the reserve plays an important local role in protecting relict bog habitats, characteristic bog flora, and the hydrological systems that sustain them. It is one of many small moorland reserves in the Cuxhaven district that collectively contribute to the conservation of Northwest Germany's threatened peatland heritage.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
