About Chessibidmer

Chessibidmer is an alpine landscape of roughly fifty hectares that occupies a terrace in the upper Aare valley just north-northwest of the Grimsel Pass, in the municipality of Guttannen in the eastern Bernese Oberland. Its seven-hectare core is a federally protected flat bog of national importance, while the surrounding terrain is recognized under multiple Swiss federal inventories, including the Moorlandschaft Grimsel (Sunnig Aar) listing of particularly beautiful moor landscapes of national importance and the Bernese High Alps and Aletsch-Bietschhorn landscape protection area. The whole area belongs to the cantonal Grimsel nature reserve.

The terrain is unusually varied for its size.
