Clinton Conservation Park

Clinton Conservation Park is a coastal protected area in the Australian state of South Australia, situated at the northern end of Gulf St Vincent. Stretching across both sides of the head of the gulf, it links sections of the Yorke Peninsula shoreline with lowlands south of Port Wakefield, creating a continuous sweep of tidal flats, mangrove-fringed estuaries, and backing dunes. The park is recognized primarily for the health and completeness of its mangrove and samphire saltflat communities, ecological associations that have been substantially reduced elsewhere in South Australia. Together with the Wakefield River estuary, the area functions as an important nursery for fish and a significant feeding and roosting site for migratory wading birds. Protected since 1970, the conservation park preserves a largely undisturbed coastal swamp complex in a region where similar habitats have been heavily modified. Its combination of marine, estuarine, and littoral environments makes it an unusually compact but ecologically rich protected area on the state's coastline.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
