Dębina Nature Reserve

Dębina Nature Reserve is a small forest reserve located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in the Bochnia County, within the administrative area of Drwinia commune. It sits at the southeastern fringe of the larger Puszcza Niepołomicka, one of the most significant lowland forest complexes in southern Poland, where the Proszowski Potok stream forks around the protected plot. The reserve protects a fragment of oak-dominated forest that is regarded as a remnant of the historical Niepołomice Forest, an area once far more extensive than today. Because of the surrounding agricultural plains and the visibility of new infrastructure such as the A4 motorway nearby, the reserve stands out as a tightly delimited island of old-growth deciduous woodland. The protected area is very small, but its ecological character is unusually well-defined for its size. Dębina is particularly valued for the natural character of its oak stand and the richness of the associated fauna. Strict protection status means that natural forest dynamics are allowed to unfold with minimal human interference, giving ecologists a useful reference point for the original character of Niepołomice Forest.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
