FFH-Gebiet Wälder an der Lecker Au

The FFH-Gebiet Wälder an der Lecker Au is a small Natura 2000 protected area in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It lies in the Kreis Nordfriesland, on the sandy Lecker Geest landscape, and covers roughly 50 hectares distributed across three separate sub-areas north and south of the Lecker Au stream. Nearly nine tenths of the site consists of deciduous forest in different forms, ranging from mesotrophic beechwood and oak-hornbeam woodland to alder floodplain forest and boggy swamp forest on acidic soil. The protected area has been documented as woodland since at least 1680 and continues to function as a fragmented refuge of traditional Geest forest within an otherwise intensively farmed and drained region. Ecologically, the site is valued for its mixture of beech, oak and alluvial hardwood forest types listed under the EU Habitats Directive, combined with a documented eagle owl, black woodpecker and hobby falcon population. As an FFH (Flora-Fauna-Habitat) area, it plays a modest but locally important role in the regional biotope network of northern Schleswig-Holstein.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
