Gampriner Seelein

Gampriner Seelein is a small freshwater lake in the lowlands of Liechtenstein, near the village of Gamprin. It is the only naturally created lake in the country, formed not by glacial carving or volcanic activity but by a powerful 1927 flood of the Rhine that eroded the surrounding terrain and left a permanent water body behind. The lake sits at about 435 meters above sea level and is surrounded by a floodplain forest, or Auenwald, made up of reeds, hedges, and trees. Recognized for its ecological character, it has been a government-protected nature reserve since 1961 and is regarded locally as a small natural jewel within Liechtensteins compact landscape. Although modest in size, Gampriner Seelein is significant as a protected wetland habitat. It supports water plants, native fish species, waterfowl, and a population of crayfish, and its water quality has been actively managed through a pipeline connection to the Liechtensteiner Binnenkanal since 1979.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
