Glen Roy Conservation Park

Glen Roy Conservation Park is a protected area in the south-east of South Australia, situated near the town of Penola and the Riddoch Highway in the locality of Glenroy. The park lies roughly 323 kilometres south-east of the state capital Adelaide and covers an area of about 544 hectares of former national park land that was remade as a conservation park in the early 1970s. The park's defining character is its mosaic of consolidated calcarenite dune ridges, bleached sand dunes, and seasonal interdunal swampland, supporting three distinct vegetation associations. It is recognised as a remnant of open forest and swampland that provides habitat for species typical of south-eastern South Australia, and is classified as an IUCN Category III protected area managed by the South Australian Department for Environment and Water.
