Isle Royale National Park

Isle Royale National Park is a remote wilderness preserve in the heart of Lake Superior, consisting of a large island and more than 400 smaller adjacent islands. Established in 1940 and designated as a wilderness area in 1976, Isle Royale is one of the least-visited national parks in the contiguous United States, accessible only by ferry, floatplane, or private boat. The island itself stretches 45 miles in length and 9 miles at its widest point, making it the largest natural island in Lake Superior and the fifth-largest lake island in the world.
