Naturschutzgebiet Olpebachtal

Naturschutzgebiet Olpebachtal is a small nature reserve in the municipality of Kürten, within the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The reserve protects the lower valley section of the Olpebach stream shortly before it flows into the Kürtener Sülz, together with its broad floodplain and connecting side valleys known as Siepen. The protected area is officially classified as an IUCN Category IV Habitat/Species Management Area. It is considered representative of the stream-floodplain systems that characterize the surrounding Bergische Hochflächen, a gently rolling upland region on the eastern edge of the Bergisches Land. Within the protected corridor, near-natural flowing water conditions combine with wet meadows, tall-herb vegetation, and patches of wetland woodland to form a coherent valley habitat mosaic. Although modest in size, the Olpebachtal reserve plays a meaningful role in the regional ecological network. It is designed to preserve and develop a wide, structurally diverse stream valley and its lateral tributaries, while acting as a habitat linkage of regional importance within the protected-area system of the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
