Oberhohenberg

Oberhohenberg is a small landscape protection area on the Swabian Alb in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It covers the entire conical summit of the Oberhohenberg, a striking isolated hill, or zeugenberg, near the town of Schömberg in the Zollernalbkreis. The protected landscape sits within the natural region known as the Hohe Schwabenalb and was established by ordinance on 1 February 1953 to safeguard the scenery of the hill from visual disturbance. Although compact in extent, the area combines forested slopes with patches of open land, including relict wet and dry grassland habitats. The summit of the Oberhohenberg reaches 1010 meters above sea level, making it the second highest peak of the Swabian Alb, and the protected area descends to 861 meters in the north. Its combination of woodland, rock outcrops, former quarries, and remnant grassland gives it a varied landscape character despite its modest size.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
