Historical Earthquake Records and Seismic Activity Catalogue for the Psí kuchyně Nature Reserve

This collection presents a catalogue of historical earthquakes documented in the vicinity of the Psí kuchyně nature reserve. By identifying events with epicentres proximate to these protected forest lands, the catalogue provides a factual overview of regional seismic history. Each entry features technical details including event timing, magnitude, and precise distance relative to the reserve boundary, offering a clear record for those researching the seismic profile of the Pardubice region.

Psí kuchyně Natural Reserve

Psí kuchyně is a Czech nature reserve situated east of the village of Janov in the Svitavy District, with parts also extending into the Ústí nad Orlicí District within the Pardubice Region. The reserve covers a forested landscape shaped by the underlying Cretaceous sedimentary geology of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin, where marlstones, opukas, and sandstones are locally overlain by Tertiary clays and gravels. The protected area is designated primarily for its moist-loving tall-forb fringe communities and its diverse forest habitats, including mature beech stands of the Asperulo-Fagetum association and mixed ash-alder floodplain forests typical of temperate and boreal Europe. These habitats support a rich community of protected woodland birds, forest-floor plants, and characteristic insect species. Administratively, the reserve was originally proclaimed by the Svitavy District Office on 1 June 1994, and later re-established under a new decree issued by the Pardubice Regional Authority with effect from 1 April 2017. The site is now managed by the Czech Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection.
