Jezioro Nidzkie Nature Reserve

Jezioro Nidzkie Nature Reserve is a landscape protected area in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship of northeastern Poland, set within the central part of the Piska Forest (Puszcza Piska). Established in 1972, the reserve surrounds Lake Nidzkie and the woodlands that border it, covering roughly 2,950 hectares across the gminas of Ruciane-Nida and Pisz on the Równina Mazurska, the broad Mazurian Plain. The reserve combines a sizeable postglacial lake with extensive forest cover, including spruce-dominated bog woodlands, mixed pine forests, oak-hornbeam stands, alder swamps, and boggy birch woods. It is managed under active conservation and forms part of the broader Protected Landscape Area of the Piska Forest and Lakes, as well as two Natura 2000 sites that recognize both its habitat and its birdlife values. Visitors come for the lake setting, the quiet forests, and a protected bird-rich shoreline, with the lake serving as a route for waterborne tourism, while motorized boats are restricted in the southern part of the lake to preserve its tranquility.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
