Jeziorsko Nature Reserve

Jeziorsko Nature Reserve is a faunal nature reserve in central Poland, located in the Łódź Voivodeship and covering the southern, shallow backwater portion of the artificial Jeziorsko Reservoir on the Warta River. Established in December 1998 by order of the Minister of Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry, it is the largest nature reserve in the Łódź Voivodeship, with its boundaries adjusted in 2017 to cover roughly 1,968 hectares. The reserve exists primarily to protect waterbirds and water-dependent birdlife that use the shallow, slow-moving (cofkowa) end of the reservoir as a breeding, resting, and feeding area. The site supports a rich mix of breeding colonies, stopover habitat for migratory species, and year-round residents, including herons, ducks, grebes, gulls, and several nationally threatened species. Jeziorsko also holds one of the most important breeding populations of the great egret in Poland, underlining its national significance for avian conservation. The reserve lies entirely within the Natura 2000 Special Protection Area known as Zbiornik Jeziorsko (PLB100002), integrating it into the wider European network of sites designated for the conservation of wild birds. This combination of reservoir habitat, protected status, and Natura 2000 recognition gives Jeziorsko a strong profile as a key inland wetland sanctuary in central Poland.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
