A bat-focused Natura 2000 habitat site in the Bukowskie Foothills of southeastern Poland.

Rymanów Natura 2000 Site

Rymanów is a proposed Special Area of Conservation and currently designated Site of Community Importance under the European Union Natura 2000 network, located in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship of southeastern Poland. The site was established in 2009 and covers roughly 52 square kilometers of forested foothill terrain across the Pogórze Bukowskie, the Bukowskie Foothills. It extends from the spa town of Iwonicz-Zdrój in the west to the village of Wola Sękowa in the east, spanning parts of four rural gminas. The primary conservation purpose of Rymanów is the protection of breeding colonies of two bat species: the greater mouse-eared bat (Myotis myotis) and the lesser horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus hipposideros), together with surrounding foraging habitat that sustains these populations. Three known bat colonies are located within built structures, including church and chapel attics as well as a former holiday house, which are tightly linked to the surrounding forest landscape. The entire territory of the site lies within the Beskid Niski Protected Landscape Area, situating the Natura 2000 designation within a broader framework of regional landscape protection.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
