Schwarzenbachtal Nature Reserve

Schwarzenbachtal is a small nature reserve in the Bergisches Land region of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, located southwest of the core urban area of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis. The reserve follows the open, elongated valley of the Schwarzenbach brook, a tributary that flows east and southeast of the village of Wipperfeld before joining the valley of the Kürtener Sülz near Buchholz. Although compact in size, the area is valued as a representative example of the wet-meadow and brook habitats characteristic of the Bergische Hochflächen uplands. Within the protected landscape, the stream splits into several branches, while the surrounding land alternates between intensively used grassland and sections of species-rich wet meadow and tall-herb fen. A particularly notable feature is the juxtaposition of wet grassland and nutrient-poor dry grassland in the northwestern part of the reserve, which creates a mosaic of contrasting habitats in close proximity. The reserve is part of the larger stream network of the Bergisches Land and contributes to the protection of floristically diverse, traditionally managed valley grasslands in this part of the Oberbergischer Kreis.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
