Springbrook National Park

Springbrook National Park is a protected area in the Gold Coast hinterland of Queensland, Australia, encompassing approximately 6,197 hectares of diverse landscapes on the McPherson Range. The park sits approximately 100 kilometers south of Brisbane and forms part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, a globally significant collection of ancient rainforests that represent remnants of the supercontinent Gondwana. The park is notable for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, multiple waterfall systems, and the unusual Natural Bridge, a naturally formed rock arch created by waterfall erosion processes. Four distinct sections comprise the park: the Springbrook Plateau at elevations between 600 and 1,000 meters, the Mount Cougal section near the New South Wales border, the Natural Bridge section with its famous cave system, and the Numinbah section to the west. The area's high rainfall and varied volcanic soil types support exceptional biodiversity across subtropical rainforest, warm temperate rainforest, and montane heath communities.
