Uroczyska Kujańskie

Uroczyska Kujańskie is a Special Area of Conservation within the European Natura 2000 network, designated under the site code PLH300052. It lies within the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, on the Krajeńskie Lakeland in north-central Poland, surrounding the village of Kujan and the large Lake Borówno. The protected area covers roughly 1,018 hectares of the most valuable part of the larger Bory Kujańskie forest complex. The landscape combines forest, lake, and meadow in a pattern shaped by the last Baltic glaciation. Subglacial tunnel valleys host deep lakes, biogenic plains hold fens and meadows, and outwash plains carry extensive pine and oak forests, including old stands more than two centuries old. The combination of charophyte lakes, dystrophic mires, travertine-forming spring fens, and well-preserved acid oak forests makes the site ecologically distinctive on both a national and European scale. The area is significant for protecting habitats and species listed under Annex II of the EU Habitats Directive, including rare charophyte algae, bog mosses, dragonflies, and the hermit beetle. It sits within a broader landscape that has been proposed for protection as the Krajna Złotowska Landscape Park, reflecting strong natural, scenic, and cultural-historical values across the wider Bory Kujańskie region.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
