Wacholderheide Dissenhorn

Wacholderheide Dissenhorn is a small landscape protection area situated on the northeastern edge of the Göllsdorf district of Rottweil in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Designated on 1 February 1953 by the Rottweil district office, the protected landscape covers the projecting hillside of the Dissenhorn, where a semi-open juniper heath (Wacholderheide) sits surrounded by mixed coniferous forest. The reserve sits within the natural region of the Southwestern Alb Foothills (Südwestliches Albvorland), and its slopes are shaped by Middle Keuper geological layers, running from the Löwenstein Formation on the upper slope down to the Grabfeld Formation below. The landscape character combines an unusual patch of juniper heath with surrounding forest and hillside landforms typical of the Alb foothills. Although modest in scale, the area is meaningful for biodiversity and cultural landscape preservation, supporting juniper-dominated open habitat that has become rare in the region. The southern portion of the heath had become overgrown after traditional use ceased and was only recently reopened, highlighting the management effort required to maintain this type of landscape.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
