Wolfslöcher

Wolfslöcher is a small nature reserve in the Südwestpfalz district of Rhineland-Palatinate, in southwestern Germany. Covering around 90 hectares, it lies southwest of the village of Lemberg in the Palatinate Forest region, just south of the L 485 state road and not far from the Salzbach stream. The reserve protects a highly specialized complex of natural and near-natural habitats, including bog vegetation in a small valley floodplain, alder carr woodland, spring niches, and rock features of the Karlstalschichten geological layer. It was designated as a protected area in 1983 precisely because of the rarity and ecological fragility of its plant and animal communities. The area's conservation value lies in its concentration of small-scale, specialized habitats. The bog complexes, alder wet woodland, and moist rock niches support plant and animal species that are extremely rare and threatened elsewhere in the region, making the reserve an important site for the long-term preservation of these microhabitats.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
