Exmoor National Park

Exmoor National Park is a sweeping expanse of heather-clad upland, dramatic coastline, and deep wooded valleys spanning the border between Somerset and Devon in South West England. Established in 1954 under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act, the park covers approximately 692 square kilometres of which roughly 71 percent lies in Somerset and 29 percent in Devon. The landscape is shaped by millennia of human activity and natural processes, from its origins as a royal forest dating back to the Domesday Book through to its modern designation as one of Britain's ten national parks. The park encompasses the Brendon Hills, the East Lyn Valley, the Vale of Porlock, and 55 kilometres of coastline along the Bristol Channel, making it one of the most geographically diverse protected landscapes in England.
