Ibachtal und Nebenbäche

Ibachtal und Nebenbäche is a small nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the Bergisches Land region of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It lies east of the town center of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis and protects the valley of the Ibach stream along with several narrow side valleys that drain into it from the north. The reserve is anchored by a near-natural lowland stream lined over long stretches by alder gallery forest. Its floodplain is shaped by permanent grassland that still includes extensive areas of species-rich moist and wet meadow, a habitat type that has become regionally scarce across the state. Narrow, mostly forested side valleys with spring brooks, including a notable old-growth beech stand west of Dahl, complete the protected system. The Ibach itself is part of the broader stream connectivity network of the Bergisches Land and ultimately drains to the Wupper. Designated in 2013 under the key GM-099, the reserve represents a typical stream valley system of the Bergisches Land, distinguished by an unusually high share of botanically valuable wet and moist grassland. Its protection aims are aimed at maintaining and developing the natural character of the valley through extensive grassland use and close-to-nature forest management on the surrounding slopes.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
