Małe Gołoborze Nature Reserve

Małe Gołoborze is a small forest nature reserve in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship of central Poland, set within the Jeleniowskie Landscape Park (Jeleniowski Park Krajobrazowy) near the village of Waśniów. The reserve covers just over twenty hectares of the main ridge and northern slopes of the Pasmo Jeleniowskie, along with the upper part of the V-shaped valley that separates two side spurs branching northward from that ridge. The reserve was established in 1994 to protect one of the most striking landscape fragments of the Jeleniowskie Range, a section of valley where Cambrian-age quartzite sandstones reach the surface and a small boulder field, or gołoborze, has accumulated. Around this geological feature, the reserve shelters a beech-dominated forest with scattered fir and a varied understory, making the site a notable example of how unusual rock formations, ancient bedrock, and native woodland meet in the Holy Cross Mountains. Although modest in size, Małe Gołoborze is valued for combining several classic Świętokrzyskie features in one place: ridge and valley terrain, exposed Cambrian outcrops, a relict boulder slope, and mature deciduous forest. Its position along the red main Holy Cross hiking trail also makes it a recognized stop for visitors exploring the region on foot.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
