A small Danish island in the Limfjorden, sheltering protected shallow fjord habitats and coastal birdlife

Rudmose Aggerø

Rudmose Aggerø is a small low-lying island in the Limfjorden in northern Denmark, lying between the larger island of Mors to the north and the Thyholm peninsula to the south. The island covers roughly 3.7 square kilometers and supports a sparse permanent population of around three dozen residents, with most of the island given over to farmland, shoreline, and traditional coastal landscapes. The surrounding waters of the Limfjorden are shallow and sheltered, with sandbanks, reefs, and small uninhabited islands forming a mosaic of intertidal and shallow marine habitat close to Rudmose Aggerø. Because of these conditions, the sea around the island is part of a larger Natura 2000 network that protects both habitat types and important bird populations. Rudmose Aggerø is notable less for dramatic scenery than for its position within this protected fjord ecosystem and for the fact that a significant nature reserve on the island itself is owned and managed by the Danish Ornithological Protection Fund. The island is connected to neighboring Mors by a causeway, making it a quietly accessible piece of the wider Limfjorden landscape.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
