Schellenbergmoor

Schellenbergmoor is a small nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in Upper Bavaria, Germany, situated just east of Lake Starnberg in the municipalities of Eurasburg and Münsing within the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. It belongs to the broader landscape corridor known as the Tölzer Moorachse, a chain of peatland sites in the pre-Alpine hill and moorland region south of Munich. The area protects a peatland (moor) landscape typical of the Bavarian pre-Alpine zone, where former glacial and post-glacial wetland conditions created acidic, nutrient-poor soils that sustain specialized bog vegetation. Since its designation in 1987, the site has been managed as a protected area focused on preserving its hydrology, peat-forming processes, and the ecological communities that depend on them. Although modest in size, Schellenbergmoor plays a meaningful role within the regional network of peatland reserves, contributing to habitat connectivity along the Tölzer Moorachse and supporting the conservation of remaining intact moor ecosystems in a part of Germany where wetlands have historically been heavily modified.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
