Scottsdale Reserve

Scottsdale Reserve is a 1,328-hectare privately owned nature reserve located on the Murrumbidgee River in south-central New South Wales, Australia. Situated about 4 kilometres north of the village of Bredbo and roughly 79 kilometres south of Canberra, the reserve is owned and managed by Bush Heritage Australia, which acquired the property in 2006 after more than a century of pastoral use. The reserve protects two nationally critically endangered ecological communities: yellow box grassy woodland and natural temperate grassland. Together with adjacent vegetation types such as scribbly gum and black cypress pine forest, these habitats form part of a major landscape-scale conservation effort along the Murrumbidgee corridor. Scottsdale is more than a patch of protected remnant habitat; it functions as an active restoration landscape. Through large-scale replanting, riparian rehabilitation along the Upper Murrumbidgee, and invasive species control, the reserve is rebuilding ecological connectivity between the Kosciuszko high country and the lowland woodlands, supporting threatened native fish, reptiles, woodland birds, and grassland flora.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
