Solecka Dolina Wisły

Solecka Dolina Wisły is a protected Natura 2000 site in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship of northern Poland, covering roughly 7,000 hectares of the middle Vistula valley between Solec Kujawski and Świecie. Rather than being a traditional national park, it is a site-of-community-importance designation focused on preserving the natural river habitats of Poland's largest river. The area protects a continuous sequence of typical Vistula landforms, including sandy and silty river bars, floodplain terraces with chains of oxbow lakes, nineteenth-century embankments, and the upper terraces where mixed forests and xerothermic grasslands develop on the valley slopes. Willow and poplar floodplain forests fringe the Bydgoszcz meander, while oak-hornbeam woodlands cling to the lower edges of the valley slopes. Ecologically, the site is significant for hosting eleven protected riverine habitat types and a remarkable range of species, including 34 bird species listed under the European Birds Directive, mammals such as the European beaver and the western barbastelle bat, the fire-bellied toad, migratory fish like the river lamprey and Atlantic salmon, and rare vascular plants such as the pasqueflower and large-flowered late yellow-lip orchid. The broader lower Vistula valley forms part of an international ecological corridor within the Pan-European Ecological Network.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
