Souss-Massa National Park

Souss-Massa National Park is a protected coastal landscape spanning 33,800 hectares along the Atlantic shore of southern Morocco, established in 1991. The park occupies a strategic position between Agadir to the north and Sidi Ifni to the south, encompassing a diverse mosaic of steppe, sand dunes, wetlands, and coastal cliffs. Three river systems define the park's geography: the Oued Souss forms the northern boundary, the Oued Massa flows through the central zone providing year-round water, and the southern zone reaches toward the town of Aglou. The park also incorporates an additional 30,000 hectares near Aglou that serve as critical feeding grounds for the endangered northern bald ibis. This coastal ecosystem supports remarkable biodiversity and represents one of Morocco's most significant conservation areas, particularly for colonial waterbirds and threatened North African ungulates.
