Urbánkův palouk

Urbánkův palouk is a small protected natural monument in the Czech Republic, located near the village of Kněžice in the Jihlava district of the Vysočina Region. Designated on 1 October 1990 by the former District National Committee in Třebíč, the site covers roughly one hectare on a highland plateau at an elevation of about 622 to 626 meters above sea level. The protected area preserves a fragment of wet and peat-influenced meadow habitat that was once widespread across the region but has become increasingly rare. These surviving meadow communities shelter threatened plant species and continue to be managed as a traditional hay meadow, supporting a small but ecologically distinctive assemblage of plants, birds, and small wetland fauna. Although the site is far too small to attract mass tourism, it carries important conservation and educational value. It functions as a gene pool reserve for meadow biodiversity and is included as a stop in the Forest Nature Trail Chaloupky, helping visitors connect with the disappearing cultural landscape of the Czech-Moravian Highlands.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
