Alitash National Park

Alitash National Park is a protected area in the North Gondar Zone of Ethiopia's Amhara Region, established in 2006. Located approximately 1,080 kilometers northwest of Addis Ababa, the park covers an area of 2,665.7 square kilometers of lowland woodland and savanna ecosystems. The park is named after the Alatash River, which originates within its boundaries and flows southward into Sudan. Alitash forms a transboundary conservation complex with Sudan's Dinder National Park, creating a contiguous protected landscape that spans the Ethiopia-Sudan border. The park features flat terrain with elevations ranging from 520 to 920 meters above sea level, encompassing river valleys, open grasslands, deciduous woodlands, and the distinctive Twin Mountains of Amadog in its southwestern corner.
