Dębowy Ostrów

Dębowy Ostrów is a small nature reserve located in western Poland, in the Lubusz Voivodeship within Świebodzin County and the gmina of Świebodzin. The reserve sits on a peninsula projecting into Lake Paklicko Wielkie, a lakescape characteristic of the broader Pojezierze Łagowskie lake district. Established in 1970, the area is protected under strict conservation rules and is managed by the Świebodzin Forest District. The defining feature of Dębowy Ostrów is a fragment of natural oak forest classified as an acidic oak woodland, known in Polish as kwaśna dąbrowa. This habitat type supports a diverse herb layer, with lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) being one of the most characteristic spring-flowering species in the understory. Despite its very small surface area, the reserve preserves an ecologically meaningful island of natural woodland in a broader landscape shaped by centuries of forest use. The reserve's legal foundation is the 1970 decision by the Minister of Forestry and the Wood Industry, and the area continues to function primarily as a scientific and educational reference site for natural oak forest ecology in the lowland lake districts of western Poland.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
