Dolina Wkry Nature Reserve

Dolina Wkry Nature Reserve is a small landscape-type nature reserve in the Mazovian Voivodeship of north-central Poland, situated in the Gmina Pomiechówek area between the villages of Szczypiorno, Kosewko, and Goławice Drugie. The reserve protects a short, distinctive gorge-like reach of the Wkra River, along with fragments of old riparian floodplain forest that once characterized the river valley but have largely disappeared from the surrounding lowlands. Although it covers only a few dozen hectares, the reserve is recognized for its clear scenic and ecological value: it preserves both the unusual geomorphological character of the Wkra in this section and the surviving patches of floodplain woodland that depend on the river's natural dynamics. Its purpose is described as the protection of the breakthrough-section landscape of the Wkra and the remnants of riparian forests, making it an important small site for conservation of lowland riverine habitats in the broader Wysoczyzna Ciechanowska mesoregion. The reserve is managed as a landscape reserve with active protection measures, and it sits within the forest district of Pomiechówek, part of the larger Jabłonna forest inspectorate. This places it within Poland's working network of state-administered forest areas that combine timber production with the conservation of valuable natural features such as valley landscapes and relict woodland types.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
