Eilper Berg / Langenberg Protected Landscape

The Eilper Berg / Langenberg Protected Landscape (Landschaftsschutzgebiet Eilper Berg/Langenberg) is a municipally designated protected area located on the territory of the city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Established in 1994 under Hagen's landscape plan, the area covers roughly 754 hectares and forms a substantial green corridor that extends from the forested hills around Eilpe into the broader landscape south of the city. The landscape is dominated by woodland cut through by numerous small stream valleys (Bachtäler), together with smaller patches of agricultural land still in use. A notable historical feature within the protected area is the Wallburg Ambrock, a medieval hilltop refuge fortification near the village of Dahl, which is officially listed as a cultural monument. The active Ambrock greywacke quarry lies within the protected area as well, illustrating how industrial land use sits alongside the area's conservation and recreation functions. Conservation recognition for the area rests on its ecologically valuable forest communities, its importance as habitat for protected and threatened bird species, and its role as a regional green corridor that supports nature-based recreation stretching all the way into central Eilpe. The protected landscape borders several other protected areas, including Rafflenbeuler Kopf to the west and Asmecker Bachtal to the east, so it functions as part of a wider mosaic of protected spaces around Hagen.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
