Jodły Oleśnickie Nature Reserve

Jodły Oleśnickie is a small forest nature reserve located in central Poland, in the Łódź Voivodeship, within the administrative area of the Lutomiersk commune in Pabianice County. It was established in 1962 to protect a fragment of a natural fir forest situated near the northern or eastern limit of the European fir's natural range, an ecologically valuable position because trees growing at the edge of their range often display distinctive community structures and age patterns. The reserve covers roughly a dozen hectares of mixed fresh forest habitat dominated by a multi-layered fir stand. Mature silver fir trees, including clusters of older specimens over a century old, form the core conservation value of the site, accompanied by hornbeam in the lower layers. Because of its modest size, focused scientific mission, and the unusual phytogeographic context of its fir population, the reserve serves primarily as a reference area for research and education rather than as a large-scale wilderness destination.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
