Lampertstal und Alendorfer Kalktriften mit Fuhrbach und Mackental

Lampertstal und Alendorfer Kalktriften mit Fuhrbach und Mackental is one of the most extensive protected-area complexes in the Eifel region of North Rhine-Westphalia, situated in the municipality of Blankenheim within the Kreis Euskirchen. Composed of eighteen separate parcels, the nature reserve preserves a striking mosaic of species-rich limestone dry grassland, juniper scrub, calcareous spring mires, and natural beech forests near the upper reaches of the Ahr river. The protected area is recognized as the largest juniper conservation site in North Rhine-Westphalia, and its dry limestone hills around Alendorf, including Kalvarienberg, Hämmersberg and Eierberg, form one of the regional strongholds for calcareous grassland flora and fauna. The valleys of the Lampertsbach, Fuhrbach and Mackental add karst features such as dolines, sinking streams, karst springs and dry valleys, giving the area an unusually rich geological character. The reserve also carries a strong historical imprint: it overlays an ancient settlement landscape, containing the medieval ruins of Burg Dollendorf, centuries-old stations of the cross near Alendorf, former surface iron-ore mining pits, and abandoned limestone and Buntsandstein quarries. Together these natural and cultural layers make the area a regionally distinctive protected landscape at the edge of the northern Eifel.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
